How Wonder Dog Training Got Started & Our Journey

Wonder Dog Training was founded in 2019 by Corey McDaniel in Memphis, Tennessee. Courtney joined the company in 2020, working initially in Memphis, and proudly opened the Austin branch in January 2024, which she now owns. Corey continues to own and operate the Memphis and Nashville locations. Since opening, Wonder Dog Training and Games has been proudly serving the Austin community for nearly two years, growing and refining our unique, effective training approach.

Our mission is simple: to help families enjoy life with their best friends without all the frustrations. 

We believe training should make life with your dog easier, more joyful, and less stressful. We focus primarily on obedience through an in-home training model — because 90% of your dog’s life is spent at home, and that’s where training has the biggest impact. Once a solid foundation is established at home, dogs are invited to join our group classes where we work on distractions, socialization, and fun play-based training games.

Our services are a perfect fit for families who want personalized, effective training that targets real-life challenges — whether you have a young puppy just starting out, an adult dog with unwanted behaviors, or you want to build stronger engagement and teamwork with your dog in all kinds of environments.

Typical Training Experience

In-Home Lessons: Your Dog Pro will come to your home and start by reviewing your progress. Then you’ll work on problem behaviors and positive commands like sit, stay, and come. You’ll be coached throughout so you can reinforce training consistently. Each lesson ends with homework and a plan to practice daily.

Group Classes: After your dog has mastered basics at home, you can join group classes to train around distractions and other dogs. We review rules, demonstrate lessons, and coach everyone on technique — ensuring your dog learns to obey anywhere.

Fun Stories & The Wonder Dog Tribe

The Wonder Dog Tribe is our community of dog lovers who meet regularly for fun games and adventures — scavenger hunts, parties, and social outings that make training a joy for dogs and their families. It’s all about building social skills, endurance, and bonding in a lively, supportive environment.

Who We Train & Where

We train puppies starting around 8-10 weeks and dogs of all ages, even up to 13 years old. For aggressive or reactive dogs with a biting history, we refer to specialized trainers to ensure safety and proper care.

Our training happens in your home for private lessons, and in local parks or community spaces for group classes — because we believe training works best where your dog lives and plays.
