Looking forward to a fun-filled Fourth of July? I bet your dog is too. It looks like the high temperature here will be about 88 degrees. Yikes. Here are some fun tips and activities for you and your püp to enjoy.
- Kiddie Pool Ice Bath: Fill a plastic or Pop-up dog pool with some ice and water. Maybe add a few tennis balls for extra fun. Pools can be purchased at stores like Home Depot or Lowes. I even saw a pop-up dog pool at HomeGoods, Tequesta!
- Dog-friendly splash pads. Dog-friendly is the key. Thin plastic pools and splash pads for children may not hold up to dog claws. Don’t want to stay at home? Try Baxter’s Dog House, Stuart. A commercial dog park with a splash pad and bar!
- Yard sprinkler toys. Get the crazy daisy style or the traditional arcing sprinkler. Great for kids and dogs alike. Plus, your grass will thank you.
- Freedom Boat Club is dog-friendly! All aboard for a great adventure! Dog life vests are also available at WestMarine and with our friends at Pet Supermarket. Just order online or call to verify inventory. Don’t forget that where there is water, there are gators. Be mindful of where you let your püp play.
As always, watch out for hot sand, asphalt, and signs of heat exhaustion. You would get hot running around in a fur coat too!
