DoodyCalls Northern Virginia: Dog-Friendly Things To Do in March

March in Northern Virginia is the best time to get out with your pup and enjoy outdoor activities we couldn't do in the cold! This means longer walks, patio hangouts, meetups at breweries, and local pet-friendly events that make the most of spring weather.

Whether your pup loves meeting new friends or you’re just looking for an excuse to get out of the house, here are some fun dog-friendly things to do in Northern Virginia this March.

 1. Attend a Local Dog Adoption Event

Spring is a popular season for adoptions, and local rescues often host meet-and-greets for adoptable dogs.

One event to keep on your radar is the SPCA of Northern Virginia Dog Adoption Fair. These events are a great opportunity to:

  • Meet adoptable dogs in person

  • Talk with rescue staff about temperament and care

  • Learn how to support your local shelter

Even if you’re not ready to adopt, these fairs are fun to attend and often include vendors, giveaways, and community pet lovers. You could even visit one of our partners, Homeward Trails Shelter, and recieve 50% off your first month of recurring services and $10 off the following services!

2. Bring Your Pup to St. Patrick’s Day Festivities

Northern Virginia throws some banging St. Patrick’s Day celebrations that are dog-friendly and family-friendly. Dress your pup up and get in the spirit!

Here are some festivals that you can attend:

  • Alexandria St.Patrick's Day Parade, Mar 1st
  • St.Patrick's Day Parade, Manassas, Mar 8th
  • Lucky Leprechaun 5K, Reston, Mar 16th

3. Take Advantage of Spring Weather at Local Parks

March is when dog parks and trails start getting busy again. Northern Virginia has plenty of spots perfect for weekend adventures, like:

  • neighborhood trails

  • open grassy parks

  • lake walks (Lake Anne in Reston is one of our favorite trails!)

  • dog parks for social pups

Luckily, the Cherry Blossom Festival starts on March 20th, which is a perfect time to get cute pictures of your dog and go on a beautiful walk! Just make sure your pup stays hydrated, especially on warmer afternoons.

Spring Reminder: Yard Cleanup Makes Outdoor Season Better

Planning to host a fun Spring event in March? We're the people to call to make sure your backyard is clean, sanitized, and ready for your guests!

Pet waste builds up fast and can make your yard:

  • smell worse as temperatures rise

  • less safe for kids and pets

  • harder to enjoy for backyard gatherings

🐾 Ready for spring hangouts?

Let DoodyCalls handle the cleanup while you enjoy the fun. Contact us today to schedule service!
