Minneapolis, MN Dog and Cat Resource Guide

Cleaning up after our canine friends is the right thing to do, and it’s the Minneapolis law. Pet waste is not just unsightly, it smells nasty. The fact is that it’s a health risk to other animals and people.  Pet waste runs off onto the common areas we use everyday like streets, sidewalks, grass areas, and trails. This toxic mess flows to our storm sewers when it rains and goes into our city lakes and rivers.

Did you know if you don’t pick up after your dog, you can be fined? The first time it will cost you $100, and every time after that the fine doubles on each additional citation. The Minneapolis city laws require you to pick up after your pets, so Scoop your Poop!

Dog and Cat Licenses

The City of Minneapolis requires all owners to have their dogs and cats licensed if the pet is over four months old. Use the city's Pet License Application Form.
