Fun Stuff and Other Dog-Related Info

  • Beaches - With so many beaches in the area, Virginia Beach’s municipal code (Sec. 6-5) explains dogs rules on the PUBLIC BEACH at Virginia Beach.

    In lay terms:
Dogs are only allowed during off-season on Virginia Beach public beaches. From the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, pets are not allowed on public sand beaches, the boardwalk or the grassy area west of the boardwalk, from Rudee Inlet to 42nd Street. People are required to clean up after their pets and dogs must be leashed.

Dogs are also allowed on many other beach areas, but rules apply, so check out the following:
               – Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
