DoodyCalls of Portland, OR

Local Owners: Alan Pietrovito and Kathleen Capps

Alan Pietrovito and Kathleen Capps operate DoodyCalls in Portland, Oregon. This dedicated husband-and-wife team has been serving dogs and their owners in Portland, Oregon since 2005. Alan and Kathleen are committed to making the Portland Metro area a cleaner, greener community; one dog and one yard at a time.

We exist to make your life easier. With our Super Duper Pooper Scooper service and our commercial Pet Waste Station installation and servicing, we ultimately clean up your neighborhood and prevent the spreading of bacteria and disease. In addition to poop scooping, we also deodorize decks and patios, help to repair and prevent lawn brown spots, and help train your dog to do their “duty” in certain areas of the yard.

At DoodyCalls, we clean and disinfect our boots and tools after every yard. Our team members are: thorough, friendly, uniformed, and professional; love dogs; and they want to make you happy and your dogs safe. We always want you to be 100% satisfied.

Safeguarding the Environment

People in Portland are strongly committed to protecting and safeguarding the environment. Preventing dog waste from entering our streams and rivers is extremely important.

Dogs are well loved members of the community here and they accompany their people everywhere. By ensuring that Dog Waste Stations are installed in all public areas, we can contribute to the effort to keep dog waste from entering our water system and the ground water table.

We are proud to distribute the award-winning, state-of-the-art, Gladiator Pet Waste Station. We work closely with apartment communities, HOAs and businesses to help them keep their properties clean and safe, as well as dog friendly. For communities, we patrol the common areas to pick up pet waste, and install, maintain, and service pet waste stations. In addition to selling pet waste stations and supplies, we also offer a managed service option that includes all supplies, service, and the station for one low weekly rate—eliminating up front cost.

In Oregon, we provide residential and commercial services in the following cities:

  • Portland, Beaverton, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Sherwood. Tigard, Tualatin, Wilsonville Gresham, Clackamas, West Linn, Aloha, Oregon City, Troutdale, Happy Valley, Johnson City, Milwaukee, Molalla, Mount Hood Village, and Oak Grove. If you don't see your city, just call.

Q&A With Alan and Kathleen

Alan and Kathleen live in NE Portland with their two dogs, Rosie and Porthos, and four cats, and have answered a few questions.

Kathleen, what have you learned after providing DoodyCalls services for the past 3 years?

Kathleen Capps

“Employing a professional Pooper Scooper is a new concept for most people. There are a lot of part-time ‘Pooper Scoopers’ who are self-employed, work from home, and service a few regular customers; so on the surface there appears to be little barrier to entry. Educating the public about the benefits of employing a professional Pooper Scooper such as DoodyCalls, and showing customers how our service employs consistently conscientious, responsible, and trained team members have been the biggest challenges. We find that once people consider that they are entrusting their beloved pet’s health and safety to this individual, they enjoy the confidence of choosing our professional service to take care of their pets.”

Alan, what do you find most interesting about DoodyCalls?

Alan Pietrovito“It’s a low-tech service operated in a disciplined and professional manner. Our teams are professional and caring. We see people and pets at home, sometimes not at their best, and sometimes we have to talk about disagreeable subjects (like poop consistency, diet, dog habits and behavior), but because we see the dogs every week and we care about them, they become our friends and clients. We play with lonely dogs, we are asked for advice on all sorts of dog issues, and provide sympathy if the dogs are ill or pass away. We become friends with our clients (both human and canine).”

How did your dogs join your family?

Kathleen: “Our dogs are both rescued dogs adopted as adults, joining our family in 2001. As a result of the tough life they each experienced prior to joining us, they are both a little dysfunctional. But we love them all the more. Porthos came to us from Second Chance Companions in Vancouver, Washington, and Rosie from the Portland Oregon Humane society. We really appreciate what these two outstanding organizations did for our dogs. They do a fantastic job of helping to find loving homes for pets and deserve all the support we can provide.”
