• Denver City Ordinances - Denver has a number of pet ordinances in place, including one for barking dogs, leash laws, and animal cruelty.
• Licensing - Dogs in Denver must be licensed and vaccinated. For senior citizens and owners of service dogs, the licensing is free.

• Colorado Humane Society - The Colorado Humane Society is the oldest humane society and animal shelter in Colorado.
• Denver Municipal Animal Shelter - The Denver Shelter provides services to animal control.  Adoption fees range from $25 to $98 depending on the animal.
• Dumb Friends League - The largest animal welfare organization in Colorado, the Dumb Friends league has its main shelter in Denver and its Buddy Center in Castle Rock.
• MaxFund - The MaxFund is a true “no-kill” shelter, taking in all animals it has room for. Some animals are kept at the shelter facilities while others are kept in foster homes.
